My Take on … “Must-See TV”

ello - my name is Jennifer and I am a reality show TV junkie. I admit it. If you transform, organize, build, revamp, glamorize, texturize, organize, expose or improve something - you've got my attention. "American Idol," "Survivor," "Real World," "Big Brother," "Dancing with the Stars" ... the list of American TV shows goes on and on.

You can't swing a cat these days and miss the chance to see dream houses built, unruly children disciplined, appearances transformed or fortunes made with the click of a remote. Who isn't looking to improve their lifestyle in some way or another? There's a reality television show on at any given hour starring driven contestants who are eager to become rich, famous or beautiful overnight.

From all the frenzy, it appears that these folks are all desperate to make some sort of monumental lifestyle change in an effort to find happiness and fulfillment. The raging popularity of these reality shows tells me these people are just looking for something to make a difference in their lives, but perhaps they aren't exactly sure what it is or where to turn. They just want a new start.

Self-improvement is an admirable trait, but relying on worldly fulfillment is only temporary and, once the shine wears off, it can leave you feeling empty again.

Which kind of got me to thinking ... what if these (driven, seeking, etc.) contestants signed up to participate in the ultimate reality show, where everyone who committed to the rules won the contest? The Bible talks about that reality - 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!"

God's promise of eternal life in heaven is really the ultimate prize, which is available to anyone who accepts it. How could anything else compare?
