Some Assembly Required – Twila Paris
by Matt Conner Mar 2009

She learned to listen for the little ways that God speaks to us throughout the day. Having a young son also provides her a different perspective on life.

ome assembly is always required. Even the most precious, God-given gifts or moments necessitate some level of work to be able to enjoy them. Twila Paris learned this lesson well, both in her personal and professional life. And it’s something she’s come to understand is essential to the shaping of her Christian character.

For nearly 30 years, Twila lovingly and steadily built a musical legacy to stand on. Songs like “We Will Glorify,” “Carry The Light” and “The Time Is Now” stand as anthems for the corporate church, while others such as “How Beautiful,” “The Warrior Is A Child” and “God is in Control” provide much-needed reminders and encouragement for the personal journey of many. In all, the three-time Female Vocalist of the Year holds 33 chart-topping songs, proof positive of the way God uses Twila to minister to the world.

Yet, as she describes, within the whirlwind of awards, endless touring and radio singles, Twila struggled to find life amidst the chaos. In fact, the schedule it took to maintain her calling became the very thing that drained her spiritual life.
