s a child, Kimberly Kelley grew up thinking she didn’t need a man. Her mom, who became a single parent after leaving her abusive husband, took care of everything and let her family know it. “I can still hear my mother say ‘I’m the mother and the father,’” recalls Kelley, a married, mother of four who has struggled in her marriage to humble herself to her husband. “I think because of those words, I learned to be this super, strong independent woman who thought she didn’t need a man.”
